About the Schools Competition
My First Poem’ welcomes entries from Foundation year children.
It is a simple, fun activity that allows pupils to explore their imagination and helps introduce them to poetry and rhyme.
The project is tailored to work alongside the National Literacy Strategy, whilst helping to build confidence and ability in early learning.
The Benefits

*Supports Every Child Matters - ‘Enjoy & Achieve’ Outcome
*Selected poems published in a ‘My First Poem’ anthology
*Complimentary copy of the anthology for each school
*Certificate of merit for every child whose work is accepted
*A ‘My First Poem’ bookmark for every child who enters
*Closes 19th December 2008.

*Help your children write their first poem, using the templates*enclosed with pack
*Send one school entry form with each envelope of entries submitted,
*ensuring the correct number of entries is filled in the space provided.
