My First Poem is part of the parent company called Forward Press Ltd, the largest publisher of new poetry in the world. The British library currently holds almost two decades ofpoetry and short stories in its national archive.

My First Poem have promoted poetry and creative writing within schools for almost 2 years by running annual nationwide competitions. Each of these result in a publication of a collection of regional anthologies showcasing the work of today’s school children. The imagination, energy and creativity, which go into each 'My First poem', make reading them hugely rewarding. Founded by aspiring poet Ian Walton, the company’s ethos has always been to act as a bridge to publication, giving every child the opportunity to see their work in print. Ian remains a driving force behind the company, and with his committed team, continues to develop it as ‘The People’s Publisher’
